    Yes and YES!!!

There are several support personel in our company that use it for a wide variety of things. We use it not only for installing software, but updating configurations, we created a PE menu, automated the building of machines, remotely connecting to and updating client configurations, etc... I write or update a script almost everyday if not every second day.

I've been trying to get a copy of this book but have been unsuccessful, and from this forum this appear to be a great book.  If and when publishing resume for this book I will be one of the first to jump on it ... looking forward to it.

If the new SMSInstaller would be developed as a MSI authoring tool, I would defintely be interested.

    Both Yes

SMS Installer is sooooooo simple to hack a few scripts together
I'm learning powershell, but the IDE makes it a great tool, no typo's just plain drag and drop of a few basic functions
It would be great is it has COM and .NET and user functions support, or even better, if it writes PowerShell code and wrap that in an .exe

Absolutely YES and YES we still pretty much use SMS installer exclusively. It really needs an update and brought into the System Center family.

We were still using SMS Installer when I left my previous company... less than Wise Studio, but it was still in use.

I'd like to see Microsoft further develop scripting technology that would play well with Virtualization as well.

    Thank you,
    Steve

No and Yes to the poll questions.

I havn't used SMSInstaller since SMS 1.2. I swithced to Wise InstallMaster becuse it was more robust that SMSInstaller at the time. We also use Wise Package Studio., not to mention lots of scripting.

I would be interested in a new version of SMSInstaller if it supported MSI and new scripting technologies.

    No and Don't Care.

Happily using AdminStudio for repackaging purposes.

    No and Yes,

I was using this installer to create packages in my previous organization and it worked fine. I would like to ask for new version sms installer with the advanced features like adding switches or commands and options to add images and also can specify the error messages. I used admin studio also and if it is asked which one I will prefer to everyone, definitely admin studio because it's more user friendly.
The only good thing in sms installer is that it's free and easily downloaded from Microsoft. For MSI edition, we can use ORCA.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Xpert

Pls rate if you found it useful.

Rod, have you heard anything from Microsoft if they are going to investigate any more resources in the SMS installer?

    Thanks
